Bee in the Peony

Bee in the Peony photo by Dan Bourque

A bumblebee collects pollen from the brilliant flower of pink peony in Colorado.

Details: Taking photos of bees is an exercise in patience and camera control, and I highly recommend it if you’ve never tried it–it will definitely test and sharpen your skills at quickly focusing and tracking a subject! This bee was drawn to a large pink peony on a beautiful Colorado day in early June.

  1. Greetings, Dan – Your bumble bee in the peony photo is magnificent! I’d like permission to use it as an image in a presentation of Basho’s haiku “The bee staggers out of the peony.” I would link the image back to your site. I tried sending you an email, but the contact link didn’t insert your email address. Let me know if I should contact you in private email. Thanks!
